3D Modeling Cutscene Game
This university project was a 3D game based on Alice in Wonderland. Using Unity as the core development platform, I built an immersive experience that combined environment, interactivity, and animated cutscenes. To enrich the visuals, I sourced assets like characters and props from platforms like Sketchfab, which were then integrated and animated within Unity. The result was a visually appealing game with both gameplay and cinematic storytelling elements.

The goal &
Objective
The goal was to create a game that balanced visual aesthetics with narrative.
The objectives were to develop a working, interactive environment, animate cutscenes that drive the story, and deliver a polished, engaging experience, even within academic constraints.
The Story
The game’s story follows Alice as she navigates a surreal and imaginative environment inspired by the world of Alice in Wonderland. As the player progresses, the experience unfolds through a combination of exploration and animated cutscenes that introduce key narrative moments. These sequences help guide the player through the environment, revealing parts of the story while maintaining a sense of curiosity and discovery.
The cutscenes act as transitions between different stages of the game, allowing the narrative to flow smoothly while keeping the player engaged. Elements such as character movement, environment design, and visual composition were used to reflect the dreamlike and sometimes unpredictable nature of the original story.
OUR APPROACH
I began by sourcing and customizing assets on Sketchfab, bringing them into Unity. I constructed the world, coded the interactions, and animated cutscenes to bridge gameplay segments. The iterative process included testing visual coherence, timing, and ensuring the cutscenes enhanced the narrative flow, all while working within the project’s scope.
I designed a third person player character system to control Alice, while implementing an NPC companion that followed her throughout the game. The NPC interaction added a dynamic layer to the experience, enhancing both the narrative and gameplay complexity. I ensured the NPC animations aligned with the scene transitions, making the cutscenes feel cohesive and engaging.
The Outcome
The project received positive feedback on its storytelling and visual appeal. While academic in nature, it was a pivotal experience, inspiring me to pursue future projects that blend narrative, aesthetics, and interactivity.
